JACKSON, MS - Almost a month after a Jackson shooting, the charge against an aggravated assault suspect has been upgraded to murder -- due to the death of the victim.
On July 5, Davie Miller, 40, was shot multiple times while in his vehicle near the intersection of Holloman Street and Martin Luther King Drive. Miller died from his injuries at the University Medical Center Wednesday -- nearly a month after the shooting. He had been in the hospital since the incident.
The Jackson Police Department announced Wednesday an aggravated assault charge on Robert Bufford, 23, will be upgraded to murder.
Bufford was arrested July 15, by members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force for a separate charge of aggravated assault, according to the Jackson Police Department. He remains in custody at the Raymond Detention Center.
