Zoo welcomes flamingos and baby beavers

JACKSON, MS - The Jackson Zoo has several new additions to its animal family -- 15 flamingos and two baby beavers.

The Jackson zoo now has a total of 20 flamingos, which can be seen on exhibit across from the rhinos toward the back of the zoo, according to the zoo's Facebook page.

The zoo also has two one-month-old baby beavers. The beavers are reportedly starting to venture outside their den to swim with mom.

"If you do not see them outside- take a peek through the viewing window in the den where they continue to nurse and grow," according to zoo staff.

Saturday night children can get a free ticket to the zoo just for eating at Broad Street Cafe in Jackson. With each adult meal purchased from 5 to 8:30 p.m., a child under 12 will get a free meal. With each free kids meal, they will also receive a free children's pass to The Jackson Zoo.
